The gown illustrated was of blue cloth, with a white silk full vest front inside the short bolero jacket front. The skirt is in six gored breadths interlined with haircloth and the sleeves of the jacket are the new leg-of-mutton style. Pattern consists of jacket front, vest and skirt.

The costume illustrated was of black Cheviot serge, made with a plain skirt and a bolero jacket waist that is bound with narrow striped black and white velvet, and has a shirred belt and stock collar of reddish violet silk. The small plastron at the throat is of ecru guipure over white satin.

This adjustable bodice for a matron is made with a coat back and shorter jacket front opening on a vest that is gathered to a velvet yoke. In the model, the gown was made of dark blue serge and velvet, with fawn colored bengaline for the vest and revers. The skirt is draped in a few folds on the hips and is trimmed around the bottom with nine narrow bias rolls of velvet, set on in three groups of three rows each. Pattern consists of plastron, vest, jacket and skirt.

The model illustrated is a Princesse gown of foulard, having a black ground flowered in violet, with the front opening on a plastron and petticoat of violet. It has a separate round foundation skirt of lining silk faced at the middle of the front with the trimming silk, with a thick ruche at the foot. Pattern consists of vest, gown and foundation skirt.
