This quilted petticoat was a treasured item in an 18th century wardrobe, whether elaborately Victorian or simply calico.  Ankle- or calf-length, the skirt is softly gathered into a waistband, and has a placketed side opening and optional hem ruffle.  Quilting design transfers are included.

As the Victorian age drew to a close at the beginning of the 20th century and the Edwardian age dawned, women entered the arenas of sports and the professions.  This was the skirt they wore, because it was comfortable and yet unencumbered by bustles and hoops.  Full length or street length, with five gores.  Pattern includes instructions for decorative cutwork embroidery (Broderie Anglaise).

Big Sky Riding Skirt

Bring out the cowgirl in you!  Equestrian women in the early 20th century, who were determined to ride astride rather than sidesaddle, wore these divided skirts.  An ingenious fashion, with front panel that buttons one way for a skirt and the other way for pants.  Pattern is derived from a skirt worn by legendary rancher and rodeo rider, Fannie Sperry Steele.

1890's period or modern skirt has seams at side front, side back, center back and pleated back panels.  Back opening has period placket or modern zipper.  The lining is sewn to the skirt the flat lined method and the hems are faced.  The skirt has a waistband and a single optional pocket.  There are three length options, walking, short and long train.

The split skirt has a total of eight panels with a false front opening that closes with buttons.  There are two optional patch pockets on the front.  The font flap shown in the View A illustration is detachable.  The top can be made as a vest or a jacket with sleeves.  The front does not overlap and meets at center front.  The leggings can be made with front or side openings.

This skirt is perfect for the transition hoop/bustle period of 1868-1873. The hem is gradually lengthened until it reaches an 8" sweeping train. Very full in front and even fuller behind, with five gores and a full back breadth. Wear over TV108, or a small elliptical hoop.

This contains two complete skirt/apron designs. Skirt A has a 5 gore front, double width trained back and a full apron with 4 sashes falling down the back. Dress B has a 5 gore front and double width back lifted at the sides with pleats to give gentle poufs. The front apron is pleated at the side sides and lightly swaged.
